The Witches of the North
Eight novellas in present day Belfast, one for each turn of the year. Seven wards, not all of them staffed, a set of books that have been wrong for a hundred years, and a woman who had no intention of taking any of it on. When Aoife Crawford hears the word 'witch', she expects wands and broomsticks. Instead, she meets people who keep accounts for the fairies and finds out that 'witches' have a lot more to do with 'wisdom' than trickery. Around 35,000 words each.
All Patrick's contemporary fantasy is published as Patrick James.
