Patrick sang in Riverdance and, later, with Anúna. Both were a long apprenticeship in performance and in Ireland's own material, and both feed the fiction.

He writes fiction set in Ireland, about inheritance, obligation, and institutions that have outlived the reasons for them. The work runs to crime, contemporary fantasy, literary and historical, and no single genre survives it. He has written for newspapers and journals since 1996. He lives in South Armagh.
